TEC Summer Institute for Educators 3D Printing 201 1-Day Course

some 3D printing knowledge/experience.

IMPORTANT! Hardware Requirements – Bring Your Laptop and USB!
If you are attending the Laser, WAZER or 3D Printing courses, you will need to bring your own laptop and a USB drive on-site during training. We will also ask you to download software PRIOR to coming for training. If you are unable to bring your own laptop or your laptop doesn’t meet the hardware requirements, please contact us at 1-800-338-2238 or email [email protected].
Hardware Requirements for 3D Printing Courses
Prior to the course, we will be asking you to download Ultimaker Cura slicing software (this is “light” software and most computers have no trouble with running Cura). The recommended requirements are:
- OpenGL 4.1 compatible graphics card for 3D layer view
- Display resolution 1920 x 1080
- Intel Core i3 or AMD Athlon 64
- 600 MB available hard disk space
- 8GB RAM memory
Note: Ultimaker Cura is 64-bit and therefore not available for the older 32-bit variant systems.
*The latest Ultimaker Cura supports Macbooks containing the M1 chip, earlier versions do not.
From exporting and importing STLs, to slicing software and
material, there are many factors to consider when 3D printing, and you need to
think of them all for successful prints! If you have had some 3D printing
exposure and are ready to expand your comfort zone, this course is for you! Join
us to learn current industrial trends for designing a part for 3D printing, the
powerful tools found in slicing software from pre-set material profiles to
in-depth printer settings, what materials you should use for what and why, how certain
3D printer features affect usability and printability, plus extra “tid-bits” to
help you make successful 3D prints! Troubleshooting some common issues will
also be discussed. We will be working
with multiple 3D printer brands and models; the course material covered applies
to most popular 3D printer brands. Each
attendee will 3D print and take home a part(s)!
